Labour; crowing over nothing!

Got a phone call this morning from Mark Leat, who called to ask if I'd seen the Barnsley by-election results. We talked a couple of minutes about the outcome- no surprises- and then Mark pointed out that in 1997, Labours majority was 24,501, so I got to wondering just how far Labours majority had dropped, not only in Barnsley but in the three parliamentary constituencies here in Stoke-on-Trent, and it put a great big grin on my face!

First off, Barnsley returned 24,501 in 1997,
  .........................................15,130 in 2001,
  .........................................12,732 in 2005,
  .........................................11,093 in 2010,
  .........................................11,771 in 2011.

Now far from being a good result for Labour, this shows there has been a major decline in Labour voting since they came to power in 1997, with their Barnsley vote share dropping by well over 50%!

So what about the three Stoke-on-Trent constituencies?
Well, the news here is even better than in Barnsley! Take a look at these figures.

Stoke North.

1997- Labour majority 17,392,
2001- Labour majority 11,784,
2005- Labour majority 10,036,
2010- Labour majority 8,235.

 Stoke Central.

 1997- Labour majority 19,924,
 2001- Labour majority 11,845,
 2005- Labour majority 9,774,
 2010- Labour majority 5,566.

 Stoke South.

1997- Labour majority 18,303,
2001- Labour majority 10,489,
2005- Labour majority 8,618,
2010- Labour majority 4,130.

If these figures don't put a smile on your face, then perhaps these will. It appears our immigrant loving communists from the Labour party have taken some massive hits in the voting department, it's no wonder they have to cheat and gerrymander at every election!

In Stoke South, Labour have lost over 75% of the vote they got in 1997!
In Stoke Central, Labour have lost 70% of the vote they got in 1997,
In Stoke North, Labour have lost over 50% of the vote they received in 1997!

It's no surprise that they were opening the ballot boxes at the last election after everyone had gone home and the boxes were supposed to be in safe storage!
I would suggest to anyone considering standing in the upcoming local elections, that you arrange to have your own security sit with the boxes through the night, so Hackney and the other Labour supporting officers of the council don't go rummaging through the ballot papers doing who knows what!

Right, I'm going to celebrate this thoroughly good news with a cup of tea and a plate of toast, so I'll bid you all a fine day, and thanks Mark, you made my day.
